Koch / Scheider – The Known Unknown: Tax Avoidance by European Multinationals
ATAD III directive, public country-by-country reporting and the global minimum tax. As our results suggest that the most prominent profit shifting strategies may already be curtailed for the largest firms, they provide no support for further and more restrictive regulation in this field. In addition, our study underscores the critical need to improve tax data infrastructure, as better access to firm-level tax reporting – such as private CbCR data – could enhance future research and policy evalua tion. Strengthening empirical tax research through initiatives such as NeSt is essential to ensure evidence-based policymak ing in the fight against corporate tax avoidance. Albertus, J.F. (2023).
